History Of KODA

KODA (Kowe Development Association) is a brain child of late Nii Sowah Kpobi Tettey Tsuru III expression of grave concern at a Kowe Kpobi We Sunday General Meeting. It was as a result of a discussion at that day’s meeting that a group of Abese descent had made boastful remarks against Kowe. Nii La advised for Kowe to build a front that would ward off such attitudes and actions of usurpation in the mode of bullying and intimidation. That was seconded by the gathering. At the close of the meeting, one Akotswe Akrong approached the secretary, William Odoi-Conarl, with the request to have Nii La’s point duly recorded, for a befitting action to be taken. The Secretary therefore proposed the Agbuminte Mantse, Nii Isaac Nshia, being the perceived Customary Youth Leader of La, to become the Chairman of the body. The late Joseph Okpoti Ashanti also accepted to be the secretary due to his journalism background. The late Dzaasetse readily endorsed the name La Dzaase Youth Association (LADYA) when it was proposed to him as the acting La Dzaasetse. That grouping lasted a little after a suit. It collapsed as a result of a faction lead by the chairman that supported Nii La’s opposition to Nii Odotei Adjei’s installation to become substantive La Dzaasetse (Otola) in 2011. It lasted only until June 02, 2013; with a drafted constitution. In mid 2014, with the effort of Emmanuel Odoi Okpoti and co, amidst the gathering and consultations of members of Kowe Houses a new plan was couched to have the association registered. The group was resurrected on August 04, 2014. It was registered with a under the new name; La Kowe Development Association(KODA) by William Odoi-Conarl , as its first Director, and Michael Sowah as the second Director and Secretary. Eventually the new KODA held its first full Assembly under its new name, logo and flag on April 23, 2017 at Nii Odoi Asumang We. It was chaired by William Odoi-Conarl with Laud Okpoti Sonny Kpobi as the secretary. The agenda for the day was amendment to the draft of the earlier resuscitation attempt.
